Social policy makers throughout the world are more and more aware of the demographic revolution that has been taking place in recent years.  The population is aging and life expectancy contnues to increase at a rapid pace, the number of children is low, the work force has decreased, and the dependence of those not working to those in the work force is increasing.

"The Elderly and the Family" addresses all of the main issues in the field of aging, through a multidisciplinary presentation of various points of view spotlighting  the elderly individual and his family.  The authors of the various chapters are researchers and academics, knowledgable experts in their fields.  The articles and main subjects discussed provide the reader with a wide picture regarding the elderly person and his family and create challenges for discussion and future discussionamong the policy makers, the researchers, and the care providers.
